There are coats that keep you warm. And then there is the Black Expedition Coat — a coat that keeps you warm, turns heads, and arrives at the destination before you do. Cut in black Persian lamb (74% acetate, 14% polyester, 12% cotton) with a silhouette that draws equally from the captain’s great coat and the La Belle Époque, this is outerwear for the man who does not compromise between function and presence. A woodgrain texture is also available in Onyx for those who prefer a more architectural surface.

The coat is insulated with polyester neoprene — warm enough to wear over just a shirt, roomy enough to layer over a sweater (33” CB length). The neoprene also lends a layer of water resistance to the sleek, shoulder-padded silhouette. The front closes with three ornate glass buttons and leather-bound buttonholes. Double front pockets — the top one trimmed in rayon bouillon fringe — and an inside breast pocket create five places to warm hands or store essentials. At the back, a double-vented over-flap flanked by ornate glass buttons hangs above a single vented slit, giving the wearer a military dress silhouette from every angle. Bouillon fringe trim flanks and stabilizes the lining hem — the couture touch that announces itself quietly and stays in the memory.

The detachable raccoon fur hood (black-dyed Finnish raccoon, Canadian-sourced) is the coat’s defining feature. It attaches and removes cleanly, and when worn, it frames the face with the kind of authority that no knit cap or puffer hood can approximate. The hood features polyester grosgrain ribbon pulls supported by fabric-covered snaps, and an extended front bib with snap closure to seal out winter wind at the throat. Wear it up, wear it down, or remove it entirely — three coats in one.

Provenance & Delivery

Made to order in New York City. Shipped in a gift box with garment bag, extra buttons, and a wooden hanger. The Stacy Couture label is placed on both the hood and the coat lining. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Preorders are not refundable. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.

Care

Spot clean with a damp cloth or consult a dry cleaner who specializes in pile fabrications. Do not press with steam on the face of the fabric. Use a garment steamer to remove slight wrinkles and a soft garment brush to lift lint and residue. The raccoon fur hood is detachable and requires the care of a fur professional annually.
