Description

The Highland Gentry does not announce itself. It simply occupies the room. This is a suit for the man who understands that authority is a matter of construction — that a strong shoulder, an accentuated waist, and a higher top collar do more work before the handshake than anything said after it.

The Highland Gentry Tweed Suit is cut in the same two-tone diamond-patterned tweed as the Diamond Dodger collection — 72% acetate, 15% linen, 13% polyester — available in Cement/Onyx and Ecru/Ivory. The jacket silhouette is impeccably tailored: a besom top pocket, rounded flap pockets, and a double-belted front closure with tabs that button inside when the jacket is worn open. Five leather buttons flank each sleeve and four at the waist. The reinforced chest construction flows from the higher collar to create a shape that is clean, strong, and entirely deliberate. The front is designed to accommodate the full-cut Windsor pants — ample-legged, deeply pleated, with two slant-front pockets and two buttoned besom pockets at the back. Both pieces are fully lined in 100% acetate jacquard (customizable). The jacket carries two inside pockets. The Ivory/Ecru colorway is available in greater quantity. Made to order in New York City.

Provenance & Delivery

Made to order in New York City. Shipped in a garment bag with extra buttons and wooden hanger(s). Hang pants vertically using the hang straps — do not fold over a rod. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Preorders are not refundable. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.

Care

Spot clean with a damp cloth (preferred) or professional dry clean with a specialist in luxury garments. Do not apply steam heat — it will damage the textiles. When hand pressing to remove wrinkles and restore creases, use a slightly damp pressing cloth on a no-steam light setting. The suit is shipped in a garment bag with extra buttons and appropriate wooden hanger(s). The pants must hang vertically — do not fold over a rod; use the hang straps as shipped.

Care

Stacy Stewart Smith offers made-to-order garments, fine art, and digital publications — each requiring different care. Please refer to the product description for care and handling instructions specific to your purchase. For garments: dry clean or spot clean unless otherwise noted; do not machine wash. For fine art: keep away from direct sunlight and humidity; handle with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. For digital products and publications: no physical care required; download and archive your files upon receipt.

Design

Every Stacy Stewart Smith piece begins as a drawing and ends as a decision — a deliberate choice of textile, construction method, and proportion made by a single designer with five decades of practice. The same eye that composes a painting composes a coat: line, weight, negative space, and the relationship between form and the body that inhabits it. Garments are produced in New York City, one at a time, to the measurements and preferences of the individual client. No two pieces are identical. No production run exists. This is not manufacturing — it is making.

The atelier sources textiles for their hand, weight, and longevity. Sustainability here is not a campaign. It is the natural consequence of making only what is wanted, from materials chosen to last, by a craftsman who will not put his name on anything less.
