About the Novel
An enchanted eighteenth-century clock holds a child's spirit captive. A Brooklyn jazz singer accidentally sets it free — and opens a portal that neither of them can close.
In 1960s Chicago, Allison Mugler's three-year-old son Martin is diagnosed with Life Trance Dementia Syndrome — a rare condition enabling his spirit to float undetected from his body and visit other people across time. When Martin's Life Trance becomes trapped inside an enchanted eighteenth-century anniversary clock, he is left as a child with extraordinary and uncontrollable gifts.
In 2008, Charly Bergeron purchases the timepiece from a Brooklyn shop and inadvertently releases Martin's Life Trance through his DNA — opening a time portal and setting in motion a chain of events neither of them can escape.
