The Bishop Fur Coat is long, fluid, mysterious, warm, and fully lined in duchess satin. It is cut in Spanish Tigrado shearling — sheepskin hides originating from Spain, prized for their naturally wavy and curly textures, marbled appearance, and irresistibly soft hand. Available in Onyx (black with silver highlights, curly to semi-curly hair) and Espresso (ebony with gray highlights, long hair). The two colorways read differently in every light — one severe, one warm — but both command a room.

The silhouette takes its name from the bishop’s frock: long, authoritative, and slightly theatrical. A standing robe collar frames the face. A leather button front closes with quiet authority. Exaggerated shoulder padding with hand-stitched stabilization panels creates a simple but unmistakably masculine presence. The semi-flared lower portion is accentuated by a stiff curtain in the hem that maintains the abbreviated bishop’s frock shape and assists the wearer’s gait — so the coat moves with you, not against you.

The construction beneath the surface is what separates this coat from anything you will find at retail. The paneled pelts are reinforced with a movable poly cotton backing. Every seam has been stabilized with cotton twill tape — not visible, but essential: it distributes the weight of the shearling evenly and maintains the intended silhouette over years of wear. Two front pockets with self-flaps for storage and hand warming. Inside one, a small concealed pocket for a valuable item. In the lining: zip-secured vertical breast pockets with metal chain pulls for access without searching, a large patch pocket for a small tablet or documents, and a hanging key-ring on a chain. You will not need a jacket beneath this coat. The Tigrado shearling is virtually blizzard-proof.

Production time is 30 to 60 days from receipt and payment clearance. After purchase, you will receive a link to the measurement form by email. A couture toile is draped from your measurements while materials are sourced. You will be kept in contact with the design studio at every step — including photos and approvals.

Made to order in New York City. Shipped in a gift box with garment bag, extra buttons, and a wooden hanger. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Preorders are not refundable. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended — please add it to your order before checkout.

Care

Spot clean with a damp cloth and remove lint with a soft garment brush. Store in a cool, dry place with space around it during warm seasons. Use a professional fur cleaning, glazing, and cold storage service every two years to maintain the shearling’s integrity and appearance.
