Leviathan Scales — striking contrasts in texture between the black paillette-clustered collar and the premium 100% cotton percale shirt. Textural grosgrain ribbon trim features a mock bow on each cuff and a self-tie Western version at the neck. This finished sample is Flint (white ground). Traditional convertible collar and cuffs. Wear the Leviathan Scales with any of the items in the Grand Soir Faux Persian Lamb Collection. The shirt arrives beautifully boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
Construction & Materials
Premium 100% cotton percale dress shirt, sourced new. All trim work is done by hand at the atelier of Stacy Stewart Smith, executed in the USA. This listing is for the completed atelier piece.
Sizing
Medium only. This finished sample has a 15.5-inch neck and 34-inch sleeve. These sample measurements take precedence over general size charts.
Provenance & Delivery
Made in the USA. Shipped in a presentation box with a signed certificate of authenticity. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.
Care
Remove metal collar stays before laundering. Hand wash in cold water with a delicate detergent — do not soak longer than 15 minutes, do not wring. Hang dry away from direct sunlight. Do not machine wash, machine dry, or dry clean. If pressing is needed, work from the reverse side only. To eliminate odors, lightly mist the reverse of the shirt only (not the trims) with a 90/10 solution of distilled water and vodka; hang to dry.
Care
Stacy Stewart Smith offers made-to-order garments, fine art, and digital publications — each requiring different care. Please refer to the product description for care and handling instructions specific to your purchase. For garments: dry clean or spot clean unless otherwise noted; do not machine wash. For fine art: keep away from direct sunlight and humidity; handle with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. For digital products and publications: no physical care required; download and archive your files upon receipt.
Design
Every Stacy Stewart Smith piece begins as a drawing and ends as a decision — a deliberate choice of textile, construction method, and proportion made by a single designer with five decades of practice. The same eye that composes a painting composes a coat: line, weight, negative space, and the relationship between form and the body that inhabits it. Garments are produced in New York City, one at a time, to the measurements and preferences of the individual client. No two pieces are identical. No production run exists. This is not manufacturing — it is making.
The atelier sources textiles for their hand, weight, and longevity. Sustainability here is not a campaign. It is the natural consequence of making only what is wanted, from materials chosen to last, by a craftsman who will not put his name on anything less.
