THE JAPONISME CURRENT
The collection is built on the Japonisme current that moved through La Belle Époque from the 1890s through 1914, when Japanese woodblock prints reshaped European ideas of composition, surface, and movement. That influence appears in asymmetric lines, flat planes, rhombus and argyle geometry, raw silk Matka hand-loomed from cocoons, and hand-painted cotton percale shirts where the garment becomes the canvas.
