The Blackwatch Harris Tweed Pleated Reality Pants pay homage to the African Diaspora at the hands of the Scottish. The pleated trousers are luxuriously constructed from 100% wool Blackwatch plaid Harris Tweed® with 100% cotton Kente cloth front pocketing that reveals with movement, sitting, or when pulled out. The pants are fully lined in black 100% polyester duchess satin with a black silk ribbon hem finish. The Reality Pants are also available in solid Onyx Harris Tweed® instead of plaid. Made to order in New York City. Can be worn with the Harris Tweed® Blackwatch & Kente Reality Kilt and the Noble Kente Hand-Printed Premium Cotton Shirt.

Construction & Materials

100% wool Blackwatch plaid Harris Tweed® shell. 100% cotton Kente cloth front pocketing. Black 100% polyester duchess satin full lining (100% silk is available at an upcharge). Black silk ribbon hem finish. Deep knife pleats at front waist. Made to order in New York City.

Sizing

Cut full and not close-fitting. The SPEC REFORM calculator records your outseam for atelier review. The standard inseam applies unless you request a different inseam during consultation. For a size beyond 36W or a custom fit, select Preorder from the size menu.

Available standard waist sizes: 30W, 31, 32W, 33, 34W, 35, and 36W. Use the SPEC REFORM calculator for a fit recommendation, then select your size and color using the product options. For a custom fit, complete the Couture Measurement Form for atelier review before production. ⠋

Select Preorder from the size menu (the option without a listed size). Production is 15 to 30 days from receipt and payment clearance. A couture toile is draped from your measurements while materials are prepared. To begin your custom preorder, complete the Couture Client Measurement Form. The form requires registration, payment, and download, and serves as your client intake agreement. The $5.00 fee is non-refundable. Complete every field and return the completed form to couture@stacystewartsmith.com with your order number before production begins.

Made to order in New York City. Shipped in a gift box with garment bag, extra buttons, and a wooden hanger. Hang vertically using the hang straps — do not fold over a rod. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Preorders are not refundable. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.

Care

Spot clean with a damp cloth (preferred) or professional dry clean with a specialist in luxury garments. Do not apply steam heat directly to the Harris Tweed® — use a pressing cloth when restoring the pleats. The pants must hang vertically — do not fold over a rod; use the hang straps as shipped.

Stacy Stewart Smith offers made-to-order garments, fine art, and digital publications — each requiring different care. Please refer to the product description for care and handling instructions specific to your purchase. For garments: dry clean or spot clean unless otherwise noted; do not machine wash. For fine art: keep away from direct sunlight and humidity; handle with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves. For digital products and publications: no physical care required; download and archive your files upon receipt.
Design

Every Stacy Stewart Smith piece begins as a drawing and ends as a decision — a deliberate choice of textile, construction method, and proportion made by a single designer with five decades of practice. The same eye that composes a painting composes a coat: line, weight, negative space, and the relationship between form and the body that inhabits it. Garments are produced in New York City, one at a time, to the measurements and preferences of the individual client. No two pieces are identical. No production run exists. This is not manufacturing — it is making.

The atelier sources textiles for their hand, weight, and longevity. Sustainability here is not a campaign. It is the natural consequence of making only what is wanted, from materials chosen to last, by a craftsman who will not put his name on anything less.
