The ogee — the S-curve, the double arc of convex meeting concave — is one of the oldest recurring motifs in human design. It appears in Gothic tracery, Islamic tile work, Art Nouveau ironwork, and the tread marks of wheels on a road. It is the shape of movement itself, the evidence that something has passed through. The Ogee Embroidered Raw Silk Flange-Back Moto Jacket carries that lineage in a silk shiffli-embroidered ogee vine pattern in Flint on Onyx raw silk Matka — a fabric hand-loomed from cocoons with a characteristic slubbed texture and matte finish that makes it as appropriate in September as it is in April. This is a year-round jacket, and it is designed to be worn that way.

Silk Matka’s natural temperature regulation is the foundation of the year-round claim — the hand-loomed construction creates a fabric that breathes in warm weather and insulates in cool, without the weight of wool or the chill of synthetic alternatives. The soft satin polyester lining and two inside besom pockets give the interior the finish of a formal garment. The flange-back cut — a pleated low front that partly conceals two front pockets, rising to a high pleated back that flows into the flange — is slimming whether seated or standing, and moves with the body rather than against it. Couture cloth-covered snaps fasten the front cleanly. A mandarin collar adds the edge that keeps this jacket from reading as conventional.

Pair with the Ogee Embroidered Raw Silk Pleated Windsor Pants — cut in the same Onyx raw silk Matka with the matching ogee vine embroidery — for a complete ensemble that carries the motif from shoulder to hem. The jacket also stands alone over tailored trousers for a more restrained statement.

Made to order in New York City. Shipped in a gift box on a wooden hanger in a garment bag, with extra buttons. Due to the bespoke nature of this garment, returns and exchanges are not accepted. Preorders are not refundable. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.

Care

Dry clean only with a specialist in luxury silk garments. Do not press on the face side. Use a garment steamer on a low setting from the reverse to remove wrinkles. Store on the wooden hanger in the garment bag away from direct sunlight.
